With all the financial insecurity world wide, how would it feel to have a two year, one year or even a three month supply of the daily essentials: food, medicines, clothing, money, fuel, toilet paper and water etc. Besides feeling at peace it make us self-reliant and independent.

In discussing this issue with friends, I found several who said, “I will go to the store and buy what I need. The problem is even if you have money; your local grocery store would run out of food within a day, if there is a run on food. The National Food Distribution Network thinks they can provide a three supply of food to most regions of the country, barring a famine, a lack of drivers or closed state lines. You can live without food for about forty days.

The history of the world tell us of famine, tornadoes, war, earthquakes, pollution and pestilences that come with each.

By our own hands we prepare to succeed or fail. How much better off would we have as a nation, state and as individuals if we all had at least the minimal food storage program?

Another thought that goes with this, how many of us depend on the food service industry to feed us on a daily basis? How many of us know how to prepare a balanced meal? How many of us know how to prepare meals that address our changing individual health needs. One way to accommodate these problems is a food storage program where you rotate your storage by using it on a daily basis and replacing what you use on a weekly basis. By so doing we learn to use our food storage to our best benefit. When an emergency comes along we are comfortable and well versed in using our food storage.

The hope is that you as a reader will consider carefully a food storage program, for each individuals in your household. There are several Internet sites that address food storage and its complexities.
