Staying Safe while Flying the Friendly Skies
Tips for Anyone Interested in Staying Safe while Flying
Staying safe while flying is achievable if you keep some important tips in mind. Staying safe while flying is important for your own health and well-being and that of any friends or family members who accompany you.

No Laughing Matter
Many individuals scoff at the instructions the flight attendant offers prior to departure, but it is important to pay attention to these directions if you are serious about staying safe while flying. Your seat can be used as a flotation device in the event that your plane crashes into water.
For Those Who Need Sedation
If you are uneasy flying and your doctor prescribed you medication to take, you will want to take certain steps first to ensure that the medication is a good choice. All medications have side effects, and staying safe while flying requires that you know what your reaction to medications will be. You don’t want to be flying at 7,000 feet only to discover that your medication causes you some sort of undesirable, or potentially dangerous, side effect. Discuss this with your doctor. He will probably recommend that you try the medication a few weeks before your scheduled flight.
Never Panic
Staying safe while flying also requires you not to panic if an emergency occurs. Current airline recommendations instruct passengers to secure their own oxygen mask before assisting others. The reason for this is simple. If everyone focuses on getting their own oxygen masks in place, then hopefully no one will need assistance completing this task, except of course for small children. However, if everyone tries to help one another, they might get excited, and a jumble of oxygen masks might be the end result with no one properly prepared.
Medical Conditions?
If you have any medical conditions, wear a medical alert bracelet and let a companion you are flying with know of your medical issues. This can be very helpful should you need emergency care while in the air. Staying safe while flying is certainly possible if you implement the above suggestions.
