Preserving and Canning Made Easy Amazing Apricot Freezer Jam

Cooking a long term use products like jam is possible by skilful preservation and canning technique. These processes increase the shelf life of the food items for almost a year, sometimes even more. Here is a recipe worth trying. Kids love and elders feel it hard to resist.

Apricot freezer jam:

Apricots are rich in vitamins and minerals. Keeping these nutrients locked during cooking is very essential. Canning apricots into jam help it to savour for long time. To prepare apricot freezer jam, you should 2 cups of chopped apricots, 5 tablespoon pectin, 2 tablespoon lemon juice, 5 cups sugar and half pint glass with lids.

Chopped apricots are taken in a large bowl and mixed with lemon juice. To this mixture, small amounts of sugar are added with thorough mixing. This uniform mixture is then allowed to stand for 10 minutes.

In a saucepan, pectin is added to ¾ cups of water and heat. Once it is boiling in full roll, stir continuously and keep it boiling for a minute. This is cooked pectin that is added to the fruit mixture and stirred for 3 minutes.

The above mixture is then ladled into clean freezer jars allowing half inch headspace. These bottles are capped and then refrigerated until set. Make sure that the refrigeration should not extend more than 24 hours. Once the jam is set, it can be served immediately or preserved for up to a year.

This apricot jam is very easy to prepare that requires only 20 minutes of preparation time and within 24 hours of freezing, apricot freezer jam is ready. The lemon added to apricot gives an additional tangy taste that brings punch to the jam.
