Getting started with Prepper Food Supplies

When you belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of The Latter Day Saints, then you surely already know that all Mormons are preppers and are expected to be – at least to some extent. LDS preppers are equipped with all that they need to help them face difficult situations which could range from loss of monthly income, or surviving disaster. The idea is that by becoming self reliant, people can be in a position where they can help others.

The first step to prepping is to decide what you want to achieve and how to get there. For most people, this includes food storage and other types of preparedness resources. A mormon prepper does not necessarily live for the day when things will become so bad. Instead they live they understand the fact that the only constant thing in life is change which could be for good or for bad. To be an effective prepper means to understand what you need and when.

The most important thing is to have a bug out bag ready at all times. A bug out bag will contain all the basic necessities from food to toiletries that a prepper will need in the event they have to live their base suddenly. Preferably the bag and its content should weigh just enough so as not to become added burden for the carrier. All the recommended LDS preparedness supplies should be in this back and it is better if there are enough items to last for at least three days.

The duration for which a person may want to store food may vary and this will also determine the type of food they can store. First of all, it is important to have an idea about the shelf life of certain products. Not all products will last that long when kept and also the storage method also matters. The more food a person can store in the long term, the better. It is important to note that it is necessary to accumulate all this food on the same day. They can be bought over a period of time with the goal firmly fixed in mind.
