Branch shelters storm refugees

LONG BEACH WASH.
While helping storm refugees sheltered at the Long Beach (Wash.) Branch meetinghouse Branch President Brian Felt found himself on the receiving end of the Happy Birthday song for his 29th birthday on Dec. 5. In reports following the Northwest storm which struck earlier this month President Felt wrote that he couldnt think of a better position to be in on a birthday being able to help so many people who really need it.
The Long Beach Branch of the Rainier Oregon Stake served hundreds of storm refugees after the Red Cross asked to use the meetinghouse as a distribution center and shelter. A truckload of supplies from the nearby bishops storehouse provided 10 pallets of food and other relief supplies in the aftermath of the storm. Army National Guard troops were also supplied with water hygiene kits and canned fruit for a shelter in the north part of the county. (Please see Dec. 8 and Dec. 15 issues of Church News for additional reports on the storm and Church relief efforts.)
On Dec. 6 President Felts wife Tiffany celebrated her birthday.
